FAMILY MEDICAL COVERAGE

If shopping for a healthcare plan seems like navigating through unchartered waters, let us be your guide!  Whether you're enrolling for the first time, or looking to renew your current medical coverage, Voyage Benefits can provide options to fit both your

healthcare needs and your budget.  As an independent agency, we partner with all major insurance carriers in Michigan, and are able to select a custom plan designed entirely around you.  We stay current with the changes to the Affordable Care Act, and assist with enrollments both on and off the Health Insurance Marketplace.

If you're between jobs, considering early retirement, self-employed, losing Medicaid or COBRA coverage, or if your child is turning 26 and can no longer stay on your plan, we can help.

DENTAL

Keep your smile healthy! Voyage Benefits offers a variety of dental plans that work with your dentist, and cover some dental services with no waiting periods.

TRAVEL

Bon Voyage! Protect yourself from unexpected medical emergencies while traveling outside of the United States. Perfect for vacationing or students studying abroad.

VISION

Take a closer look at our vision plans that provide coverage for annual exams and offer discounts on glasses and contact lenses.

DISABILITY

Unexpected medical problems can get in the way of working and earning an income. Have you thought about how you would pay your bills and protect your family's financial stability?

SHORT-TERM

Short-term medical insurance may be the right fit for families going through transition. These temporary plans provide basic medical coverage for up to 6 months.

LIFE

It’s practical and wise to anticipate how your loved ones will pay the bills when you pass away.  Life insurance helps cover funeral costs, mortgage payments, college tuition and more.

Want to change insurance carriers or adjust your plan design? Most of the time, you only have one opportunity to make plan changes, which is during the Open Enrollment period. Once you're enrolled in a policy, you may not be able to change it again for a full year.

INDIVIDUAL (Pre-65) OPEN ENROLLMENT

November 1 - December 15

Identify upcoming changes to your healthcare plan

If you are enrolled in a plan this year that will be available in the upcoming year, and choose to do nothing, you will automatically be re-enrolled in the same plan on January 1.  You may receive a notice from your current health insurance company outlining changes such as:

  • An increase to your monthly premium

  • Possible discontinuation of your current health plan

  • Changes to coverage and benefits like deductibles, copays, and annual maximum amounts

  • Adjustments of provider networks and participating physicians

Update your Healthcare.gov application

If you applied for or are renewing your coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace, you need to provide updates to information about you and your household, including:

  • Information about your household size and who will be covered

  • Your current home address, telephone number, and e-mail address

  • An estimate of what your expected household income will be for the upcoming year and confirmation of any tax-credits (premium subsidies)

  • Which plan you would like to enroll in for the upcoming year

Special Enrollment Periods

If you decide to enroll between November 1 and December 15, your coverage will take effect on January 1.  If you miss the enrollment deadline, you may not have another chance to enroll in coverage until the following year.  Exceptions to this would be if you experience a "qualifying life event" mid-year, which may include:

  • Marriage or divorce

  • Having a baby

  • Moving to an area where your current plan is not available

  • Losing other coverage like COBRA, Medicaid, or employer-sponsored health coverage

  • Turning 26 and no longer eligible to be covered under your parent's plan

You will need to make changes within 60-days of your qualifying life event.
